There was a lot of staff interaction and engagement with people, most of whom were living with dementia and unable to tell us directly about their experiences. Staff said they felt valued and always enjoyed coming to work. During the inspection people were enjoying a beanbag game, going out to town and chatting with staff about music and Valentines Day. Staff at the home had been able to build strong links with the local community including regular visits to the local church, pub, shops and memory café.

Most people were unable to be directly involved in their care planning but the new manager had begun to meet with each person’s representative to discuss the new care plans. A copy of the care plan was then sent to the representative if they were happy to be involved. The manager said “It’s about getting it right for everybody.” There were regular reviews of people’s health and staff responded promptly to changes in need. One relative felt this had not been pro-active in the past but we found the new care plan format enabled staff to clearly monitor and identify changing need. People were assisted to attend appointments with appropriate health and social care professionals to ensure they received treatment and support for their specific needs. A health professional was visiting during our inspection and their advice was documented and actioned immediately.
We take great pride in the quality of care which we offer and the dedication and professionalism of our staff. I was a little uncertain where you are having issues with ubuntu and where you are having issues within the docker container. Switch between Stable and Edge versions
A bit background on why installing Docker on Windows Home is different than installing it anywhere else. Windows Home edition doesn’t ship with Hyper-V feature which is required by Docker to run containers. Hyper-V is different than hardware virtualization which facilitates running virtual machines through tools like Oracle VirtualBox. Containers and images created with Docker Desktop are shared between all user accounts on machines where it is installed. This is because all Windows accounts use the same VM to build and run containers.
In VSCode this is pretty straightforward. Firstly make sure you are on the Windows insider program, are on and have installed Docker Desktop Edge. For the best experience of developing with Docker and WSL 2, we suggest having your code inside a Linux distribution. This improves the file system performance and thanks to products like VSCode mean you can still do all of your work inside the Windows UI and in an IDE you know and love.
Note that it is not possible to share containers and images between user accounts when using the Docker Desktop WSL 2 backend. Next is setting environment variables, this is to dictate that docker should run commands in our virtual machine. It is recommended to run this command every time we start the virtual machine after a shutdown. When an update is available, Docker Desktop displays an icon on the Docker menu to indicate the availability of a newer version. Additionally, the Software Updates section in Settings also notifies you of any updates available to Docker Desktop. You can choose to download the update right away, or click the Release Notes option to learn what’s included in the updated version. When you are in VSCode, you can use the terminal in VSCode to pull your code and start working natively from your Windows machine. Open VSCode and install the Remote - WSL extension.

My computer can run VMs no problem, but just because it’s using Win10 Home it can’t run Docker? Under Ubuntu live image it works fine, so it’s definitely not a hardware issue. And Hypervisor support is enabled under Programs and Features. @JanTuđan - despite my comment above, if you want to use docker you must get into Linux.
I personally will try to finish the previously mentioned tutorial and then, who knows, may be I will start using Docker for each project I do. Running docker-compose up successfully fires up the website but I then get hit with loads of issues I never encountered while running the project via docker desktop without WSL2. I have the same thing, but I also noticed that Hyper-V has to be enabled. As in, if your copy of Windows 10 has Hyper-V, you can install it by simply enabling it because it’s already there.
If you plan to reformat your machine, you’ll have to go through the same process again. It’s worse if your job is to install Docker on multiple machines running Windows 10 Home. As you probably know, Docker requires a Linux kernel to run Linux Containers. For this to work on Windows, you’ll need to set up a Linux virtual machine to run as guest in Windows 10 Home.
Choose how you want to complete the Docker install
Use docker save -o images.tar image1 [image2 ...] to save any images you want to keep. See save in the Docker Engine command line reference. Docker Desktop does not start automatically after installation. To start Docker Desktop, search for Docker, and select Docker Desktop in the search results.
Use docker load -i images.tar to reload previously saved images. Uninstall the current version of Docker Desktop and install a different version , or reset your VM disk.
